Yay, our favorite city has been named a 2017 World Festival & Event City, one of only nine around the globe, by the International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA).The other nine and past recipients of the IFEA World Festival & Events Association award are listed here.  Tucson’s 132-page entry application (!) lists these Top 10 Tucson Festivals. 

  1. Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase
  2. Tucson Festival of Books
  3. All Souls Procession Weekend
  4. Major League Soccer Preseason and the Desert Diamond Cup
  5. 4th Avenue Winter and Spring Street Fairs
  6. Tucson Meet Yourself … A Folklife Festival
  7. Tucson International Mariachi Conference
  8. El Tour de Tucson
  9. Tucson Folk Festival
  10. Tucson Rodeo Parade and La Fiesta de los Vaqueros

as well as eight or so “Other Mainstay Festivals and Some Emerging Events”. And this on the heels of awards for:
